Below are some pictures I took while turning a couple of 44 Gallon Drums into compost bins.
It was a fairly cheap project including the purchase cost of each barrel they cost about $20 each. I cut a door in the bottom using a angle grinder (I did try a Dremel and just chewed through blades) and just used some tek screws to put on the hinges as latch.
I do plan on creating a couple of more but when I redo it I will change a few things. I would probably use either a nibbler or jig saw to cut the holes. I also want to build a frame to hold them on there sides with wheels so they can be stacked a couple of high and rotated on the spot. I would then move the door to the side and cut/drill air holes.
Getting an idea for the size of the door
The biggest mistake was trying to use a Dremel.
This was after chewing through 3 or 4 Dremel Bits
I cut the edge where the hinges were going first. I then tapped them to hold them in place before using tek screws to hold them in place. After they were attached I cut the other sides.
Final product with my rough as guts cuts with the angle grinder
Both of them done sitting around the side of the house. This is where I would like to put a structure to hold a couple of them stacked on top of each other.
